TO
MR. HEITMANN'S
STUDENT
SALUTE
PAGE
#1

This Page Is Dedicated to My Students
of Lake Riviera Middle School. They have, for the most
part, risen above the expectations that were placed upon them. They filled
my classroom with laughter, knowledge, memorable moments, acts of charity,
deep insight, and intensity. Their writing, creativity, independence, and
speaking skills brought me much pride and satisfaction. I hope their lives
are filled with success. Likewise, I hope that they will all have a few happy
moments from Seventh Grade.
It was the goal of their teachers to make their Seventh Grade a unique
experience for each of them. Through much work, character building and fortitude
MOST of them left our rooms set for any obstacle that might be in their way.
God Bless each and every one
of them.
In Cyberspace, as in my own memory, they shall remain forever.

The Class of 1996-1997 has left a permanent impression
for their strong independence, opinion, unused potential, socialization
skills, humor, and for many, the ability to overcome great odds in order
to achieve excellence. This year brought Science 2000 Workgroups, Geography
Tests, And Then There Were None, Ad Campaigns, Artwork Journals, POW
WOW, Math Games, Food Planets, Making Snot, The Poseidon Adventure,
and more. I will always wonder how far the road will stretch before
those who would not walk it. Sadly, there were too many of them.
Unfortunately, there is no Group Photo Available From That Year.
The FIRST "Field Day" Photographs NEVER came out.

The Class of 1997-1998 proved to excel at everything
that was given to them. They met difficult challenges with a distinct style
and always wanted to learn. They completed
"We Didn't Start The Fire"
(A comprehensive multilevel project
), Food Journal Entries, New York
City Field Trip, Science Term Papers, SUDDEN DEATH, City States, Science
Rooms, Those Two Days, Holocaust Survivor (Mrs. Dorman), and more. This group
of students demonstrated much potential for success in the future. They will
be the true "movers and shakers" of their generation.

The class of 1998-1999 will be immediately remembered
for being "great friends" with each other. Even when there were
arguments and the occasional "difference of opinion" this group, for the
most part, liked each other. A very sociable group of students that got to
enjoy THE
WEDDING (A Huge Favorite) , the "salt lick",
http://members.aol.com/MrHatLRMS/learn.html, height line-up, Who's Who, GEPA
Prep, Henry VIII, Online Conversations, Chicken Wings, The Indian in the
Cupboard, Lunch in the classrooms, Singing outside, student-teacher switch
day, balancing nails, Maria Veronica Geralyn, and more!
This group from 7-11, 7-12, and 7-13 took every
challenge that was given to them and grew LEAPS and BOUNDS from them. 16
of them earned their way into Advanced Classes in 8th Grade. As they
go on to 8th Grade and life, they will be FONDLY remembered as a "NICE" Group.
So Nice, they even earned a Reunion Picnic. =)

The class of 1999-2000 will always bring memories of
a distinctive year. This was a year filled with many unique personalities
that brought a different "flavor" to the classroom setting. High achievers
who were extremely competitive set tones for each room. There
were
many
internal and external
forces that brought about an air that will always
be synonymous with this group. Many opinions......many feelings.
This class was introduced to The Constitution Report,
organ dissection, Eiffel Tower building, "Words of the Week", WDSTF dance
contest,
YOTUP, a
Lab Assistant (Thanks Keith
Parker!), new Science books each marking period,
many athletes, Classic Artist Styles, a 90% turn-out for the Valentine's
Dance and more.
We watched
42 of these students go on to the Advanced
Mathematics/Language Arts Classes in 8th Grade. Furthermore, another
15 were
placed in Language Arts Excellence Clusters. This was the year of the
achiever.

The pinnacle of teaching occurred in this year.
There were so many events and memories created with this particular group!
A year that began with the familiar
"Welcome to Seventh
Grade" will forever stand-out
as a favorite. As a whole, when this group was in 6th grade, those teachers
praised them. We had no idea of the unique opportunity that would arise when
these students walked into the room. They, for the most part, listened to
each other, worked together, were great friends, had outstanding proactive
parents, and made each and every day a pleasure. The year flew by in a whirlwind
of good feeling.
This particular group, in addition to completing
the many projects and tasks that were in existence before them, enjoyed:
The WEDDING Rehearsal Dinner, TWO Field trips to New York City,
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Contest Contest, Debating Soundoff Competition,
A Halloween Party & An End of the Year Party in addition to a Christmas
Party, The Mock Trial
Experience, Classic Movie Analysis, Science Clusters, Asian Abstract
Artists Flags, Social Studies Mobiles, The Mother of All Reports, WDSTF (The
Millennium Version), Superb Adopt-A-Charity contribution, Blankets for the
Poor, Adopt-A-Grandparent for Christmas, Group Line Dancing at the Saint
Valentine's Day Dance, SECTION 7-11
OPENING The FOLLIES 2001 and
more.
In addition to the identified Pre-Algebra students
in Section 7-11, we happily watched another 8 students from 7-12 and 7-13
enter into the Algebra Program for 8th Grade. 40 of our students would make
up the 60 Algebra Students in 8th Grade. The rest of the students will truly
rise to the occasion of meeting every academic challenge that is placed before
them.
While classes may come and go, this particular
group of students will forever be the embodiment for the reason why people
become teachers. For the greatest majority of every day, they made
coming to work a pleasure. They were the perfect class for the last group
that Ms Magnotti will ever teach. They brought kindness, thoughtfulness and
genuineness to an unprecedented level. Not one of them conceited by their
own success. Not one of them purposely malicious. Not one of them consumed
with the ability to be rude. Their parents are fortunate to have them.....as
were we.
So long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Adieu,
Au Revoir,
God Bless!

AN ERA
ENDS
513 STUDENTS LATER.......TIME CALLS FOR A CHANGE
Statistics show that most high school graduates recall
their 5th and 12th grade years as most memorable. We hope that we were able
to add 7th Grade to that list.
WE HOPE THAT THE LESSONS LEARNED (academic as well
as "life lessons") will have some impact upon the students we always refered
to as "Our Kids" for some time to come.
There were smiles, tears, stares, smirks and
thoughts.
Many Fond Memories
Many Laughs
-On June 12, 2001 over 400 students from the classes
of 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001 joined together in the cafeteria
to bid a fond farewell to a great teacher, friend and role model. A teaching
partnership that worked very well came to a close on June 19, 2001. Though
leaving to enjoy a well-deserved retirement, she touched the lives of hundreds
of children; therefore, she will live on through their successes. Needless
to say, her two remaining partners will miss her...greatly.
HAPPY RETIREMENT MS MAGNOTTI.....
We'll Miss You!
FROM MS. MAGNOTTI TO ALL OF HER
STUDENTS |
| Dear Classes of 1995-2001,
I've never been more pleasantly surprised, shocked
and excited to see so many of my dearest students. I can't begin to express
all of the emotions that I was feeling. I felt more the Teacher on June 12,
2001, than I have over the past thirty years because of you. The love and
warmth I felt for each of you that day will remain with me forever.
I would also like to thank everyone for the watch,
cards, letters, poems, the poster, candles, frames with pictures and all
of the other gifts too numerous to list. I also thank the wishes of those
who could not attend because of prior commitments.
Thank you for making me feel so special on June 12,
2001. My LOVE to EVERYONE!!!
Thanks for the Memories!!
